I would think either batch by:
1) Artist
2) Label
3) Genre
4) Touhou Game
5) Time of release by NEET.
One of those should suffice, right? Probably the fourth and fifth seem like they would be best, possibly the first.
>Time of release by NEET.
maybe you mean by convention?
Wouldn't batching by circle make a lot of sense?
I like batch by convention the most, it seems the most complete to me somehow, maybe because of the fact that you have individual threads for each convention so it would continue on with that organizational structure. But that might cause problems when it comes to the touhou/doujin general threads, since those aren't from any specific convention.
Batch by circle makes a lot of sense too, if people want to get all the albums by whatever group interests them.
This is a great idea btw, glad to hear you are going to be doing it. You guys are awesome.

Artist, genre and game are out of question due to several reasons; artist just doesn't work because we're dealing with doujin music, genre doesn't work either because defining genres is very hard (also, multi genre) and Touhou arrange albums have often arrangements from several games. Yeah, and we release non-Touhou stuff too. If you mean the order in which we released, it's a very interesting idea. It's possibly the best idea if we're to batch all the older releases, because we could simply batch 50 releases per pack, or something like that.
>>4
It certainly does, but then there are the circles with 1-2 releases.
>>3 >>5
Now we're getting to our initial idea. Batching by convention gives a nice pack and there are no major problems doing so.
Thanks for the replies, we appreciate it.
I think batching by circle/label would make the most sense, since it keeps similar stuff together. I really liked the DBU Music batch you guys released a while back, and I feel the release itself benefited from being a single circle/label.
I like the idea of batching by convention, however on larger conventions (such as Comikets) the torrents would be insanely large. Couple that with having to deselect rubbish albums or genres you don't like and it makes the experience harder and less convenient for whoever's downloading. Another thing to take into account when releasing by convention, is that there's a lot of diversity in terms of style of music and quality - people may be downloading music they don't want. On the other hand, there may be a few albums the downloader hasn't heard of in there, except he didn't download them because of the genericness of the torrent. For example, I would have never downloaded any Angelic Quasar releases if it wasn't for the comments that were provided by the uploader.
In short, I think that both types are good, however both have their shortcomings. I've explained the shortcomings I see with batching by convention, and I agree with >>6's comment about one or two releases by a particular circle.
However, if I was made to choose between one or the other, I'd much prefer to download by circle.
As to why you should batch releases, it helps to solve the problem of no seeds being available, since it's easier to seed with, and is less of a network hog, for both your tracker and the seed/downloader.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts, and more importantly, thanks for giving us the chance to help you guys out (even if it is just our input).
I'd prefer 'Time of release by NEET'. Batches by circle are certainly nice to have, but they have the inconvenience of each time there is a new release uploaded, that torrent will have to be replaced with an updated one. With a release by time batching, there could be, say 25-50 releases per torrent or so, and each one of those batches won't need to be replaced/updated any more. Batching by convention is nice too, but then again, there are some releases (like the mario galaxy orchestra one) that aren't from any convention. And you'll have the thing with the update of each torrent. Just my 5 cents here. Keep up with the good work NEET!
I think Time of release by NEET would be good, possibly adding some albums that were released wayyyyy late past the convention time. Convention release might also work fine.
>>7
I can understand your reasoning but managing circle torrents would eventually become a huge burden on us.

You have some very good points. "Time of release" certainly would be the cleanest way to do this and quite a few of you seem to like it that way. That's good to hear. Regarding the batch size, we think 25 would be too small because we'd eventually drown in the batch torrents as we have already over 400 releases.
Perhaps it could simply be bundled by order of release. First 50 releases, then 2nd 50, etc.
I also agree on this. Bundle by order of NEET release. 1-50, 51-100, 101-150... If 50 is too small for a batch, go for higher - that would work as well.
I completely agree with the time of release idea.
It's simply the least-messy way to do things.
If you release by cricle you get people complaining about "why didnt you release via convention" and vice versa.
Bathing in the time of release is absically re-doing exactly what you've already done-- except in a cleaner, more manageable way.
If people don't like it-- tough. It's what you've been doing already; it's what you've had to do already, time is linear afterall.
Cheers NEET, very strong british enthusiast here!
>>13 I guess it's decided then.
Once again, thank you for all the replies and please don't feel discriminated if we didn't choose your preferred way - after all, it's impossible to please everybody.
There are some minor things that needs to be taken care of, but we'll hope to get started with this thing soon.
