Thought about posting this on NEET for a while and finally decided I would since I've only thought of 2 others so far and I've always liked it here in a way. I will be sharing the link to this on a total of 4 or 5 sites (so far here, allKore, and omgdidinsane) and is to remain specific to those sites or the link will be changed because of bandwidth limits. I also believe several of the albums are releases from NEET, but that may change depending on what I choose to include in my "need to get/missing" list.
What is it:
Why:
What I need:
A hosted domain:
- Can not pay for one myself due to money problems
- Needs to have at least 80GB of space to use
- I need to be told my limitations on bandwidth usage
- Will only be sharing it with a select few sites
- If shared anywhere else or bandwidth usage is too high
I will change the folder name (to something very random)
and reduce the number of shared sites
- Possibility of a donation button for host so I'm not a complete moochPossible choices:
That's about it. I'll begin releases in a week if I can get a domain by then. The schedule will be about 10 albums a day, which will take a bit over 2 months.

But... but... -q5 aoTuV b5.5 kicks ass!
Well, mainly using V0 because of space and compatibility (about halfway through conversions and shit I stopped using 320 due to technical difficulties but decided to keep the ones already in that format). Anyone should be fine with me doing V0 releases since the quality is sure as hell good enough, go ahead and keep what you have in whatever format you please. I just won't be changing my format after how much time I've already spent organizing everything.
"I also believe several of the albums are releases from NEET"
So that means they're transcodes, encoded from a lossy source?
Either way, I'll be looking forward to it.
Offtopic: Ogg Vorbis is awesome because it supports cascading, custom tags.
Thoroughly ignores Offtopic
No, I didn't encode anything from lossy sources. Everything was either in my possession from the beginning (not clear on how for all of them), converted from tta+cues from that huge touhou lossless music collection torrent, or ripped by me personally (I will not tell you the number, heh).
Hello friend. I appreciate your initiative very much, since the gay NEETs (all of them, including myself, you, your mom, my mom, etc.) won't release many of the OH SO COOL pop stuff or TAMUSIC.
But out with the sarcasm and in with the questions: Did you encode ALL of the albums in that huge touhou lossless collection torrent? Also, why not share the stuff in torrents? As in small torrents and not a freaking hude 25/180gB one.
I didn't encode all of them from the lossless torrent seeing as I already had a lot already in 320 or V0. I also have quite a few albums that weren't in that torrent (all of which range from 192cbr to 320cbr).
These are all going to be shared as individually zipped albums for direct download; I'm doing this because I know people who can't run torrents and my method is an easier, more universal way of doing it (although not very widespread since it'll leak bandwidth too much bandwidth if I share with like more than 4 sites).
The hell is allKore?
HOLY SHIT is hitman, sup man long time no see, nver quite saw you here when ddrgeek got shut down, that really sucks man. well i would like to say thank you for hosting the music. Doujin/Touhou music foreva \m/

But you're posting every album that appeared in that collection, right?
Also, what kind of people can't run torrents?
>>10
Yes every album in that collection will be posted in V0 or 320cbr.
And the people I know of that can't run torrents is either connection problems in their house, really crappy service provider that will literally stop the connection if upload exceeds too much, issues with slowing down the connection for the rest of their family members, personal dislike of torrents....and a few other things I can't remember.
Only 4 days left until I start this thing!
Just a tip: Don't zip the albums, nobody likes that.
My view: If you just want one song from the album you should be willing enough to download the whole album :0
There are upsides and downsides to zipping albums.
Upsides:
* Convenience: It's easier to keep track of one file, rather than tons of individual files.
* Leech-guard: If you keep it zipped up, random people won't be able to directly link the songs on your site.
Downside:
* Need for extraction: Some people with limited hard drive space may not exactly be fond of keeping both the archive and the extracted contents. (Granted, there are solutions for some players such as foobar to read songs from ZIP and RAR files)
* People that want "that one song": Some albums are usually more well-known for a single song. Of course, what can it hurt to download the rest of the album alongside that single track? If you're lucky (and if the group is any good), you may find several other tracks that are to your liking.
Of course, some of these are more relevant in the context of BitTorrent distribution rather than direct download. Bandwidth is probably more of an issue for direct download, while keeping the original files is more of an issue for BitTorrent.
For direct download, I think that keeping it zipped would be better as it protects against bandwidth lost to leechers, which offsets the bandwidth "lost" to people that download a whole album and then discard all but the one (or couple of) songs they want.

"Of course, some of these are more relevant in the context of BitTorrent"
^
This will not help me change my ways.
Zips are easier to batch download (if only a little), it's not that hard to unzip an entire batch (granted it may take a little time, so what if you can't listen the moment it finishes) and I'll keep all files in designated folders for the album so you won't just be spewing a ton of music files all over the place. I've always disliked batch downloading individual songs (besides bittorrent)
My opinion will never change, I'm sorry.
((heh, you guys have had the most questions/concerns out of the 2 other sites...which I'm entirely grateful for))
(((I also feel incredibly ill today, so I hope it doesn't get worse by midnight "tomorrow")))
Who said I was trying to change your ways?
I'm just bringing up pros/cons to using zips on both torrents and direct download.
My opinion is: zip = good for direct download, individual = good for torrent.
Well, as a torrent, this will be considered a pass by many. Many people don't like torrenting zip files because they can contain files they aren't expecting (spyware, adware, trojans, gay porn, rickroll T_T, etc.), or they just want a few songs and don't want to download a whole number of 70~120MB zip files.
I don't expect you to change your ways, but I wish you would. The torrenting "community" (for lack of a better term) would be much better off without zip files.
Okay, current host isn't being entirely cooperative (in response speed at least), could anybody else supply some space for me to start this thing?
use Filefront.com
I'm not going to use filefront :P
hmmm....
Creating a new account is currently not possible.
NEET to the right.

Another of my views:
>>27
My views don't seem to be compatible with any audiophile, but they're good enough (more than good enough).
>>28
what tipped the scale was obviosly your tags. if it was only the format this would brobably have been done much sooner
hahahahaha, riiiiiiight, k just leave the people who want to actually follow this.....I don't think most of you are grasping what my whole idea was.
can upload hardcore syndrome 2?? plz T_T
