This thread was created to inform you about what's happing in front of and behind the scenes of this little group.

The request thread was permasaged and closed today, because it grew up to become something most unpleasant.

It was the most active thread on this board. People who only request don't contribute; they leech. And it's not wrong to do so, as we were the ones running such a thread in the first place. Still, it quickly took focus off the rest of our board. To make a small summary, the request thread was leeching the rest of the board's life power, and that is why we had to end it off.

While the thread might be opened again in the future, it will most certainly stay permasaged, to make sure it doesn't grab too much attention again.

Hopefully this was a sensible course of action, and will make visitors post to other threads as well.

From this point and onwards, Touhou arrangements will be our main point of focus. Awesome originals and arrangements of other game soundtracks will also be released, but only the very best ones. We shall also try to listen to posters in convention threads, if they've got some suggestions for us.

There is simply too much time required to do it all, that we were forced to choose a direction for the future. Also, this should enforce quality over quantity.

We are changing the way we do tagging. After a while, we have realised that the circle in most cases function as an album artist. Both arrangement and performance go under the term "arranger" when used by doujin musicians. While putting the circle's name in the artist field is not wrong, filling it with the individual arrangers' names are in 99%* of all cases a much better thing to do.

* Not based on any real statistics or anything.

While I can certainly understand your reasoning for closing the request thread, do you think it might be a good idea to at least have a thread open for reseed requests? Permasage it so it doesn't get in the way, sure, but it seems like it would be useful to at least have that much.

You are right, it was useful for that purpose. After thinking a bit more about it, let's try to unlock the request thread for now, and pretend like it means reseed requests. As long as it's kept permasaged, things might work out fine (if not, we'll just close it again).

What about tracks that have different composer/performer, or multiple performers?
Circle name? Or listing everyone?

There's no definite answer to that question, but the performer is usually the one who's considered the artist. Circles like IOSYS are pretty tricky.

My screen didn't want to turn back on after I'd closed the laptop, and that made me have to reboot the computer. Now the hard drive with ALL MY FILES won't mount anymore, and I've got no clue regarding what the fuck to do.

Oh rite, you were kidding me after all. Shitty reiserfsck told me my hardware was dead, but it only required yet another reboot for it to start working again. Anyway; wohoooo!

What?

At our meetup earlier this month, we all agreed that writing album and single with katakana instead of roman letters is unnecessary and pretty stupid, and that we would stop doing it after C72.

We will finish up C72 with katakana for the sake of consistency, but any other releases won't be written that way.

Also, ATTENTION fellow European STG lovers. On September 28th, Nintendo will be releasing the legendary N64 game Sin and Punishment on their Virtual Console as part of their "Hanabi Festival". Sounds like a limited time offer, so make sure to get it!!

In order to follow up the way we now do tagging, having ZUN's circle as the originalartist is wrong. That would be originalalbumartist, which is messy. Because of this, Touhou tracks will from now on be tagged with ZUN as the originalartist (plus U2 and NKZ for those IAMP songs).

Starting with Touhou Kouroumu 4, we've switched from labelid to catalogid, so all catalog numbers are tagged as catalogid from now on!
